Melissa Arbitman, CTC, CPDT-KA


In 2009, Melissa attended The San Francisco Academy for Pet Dog Trainers and obtained her Certification in Training and Counseling (CTC) with honors. She completed an internship at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and then achieved her Certification in Pet Dog Training - Knowledge Assessed (CPDT - KA) from the Association for Pet Dog Trainers and is certified in Family Paws Parent Education (FPPE) . In addition she has a BA in Psychology(the basis for dog training) from Hunter College.  She has also served as the Assistant Behavior Manager at the Monmouth County SPCA and a Canine Behavior Assessor at NYC ACC.  Melissa is certified in animal disaster rescue and has volunteered on spay and neuter rescue projects around the world, traveling to Panama, Romania, and Nicaragua with World Vets. For the past 10 years she has worked with dog rescue organizations, trained, and walked dogs. Melissa currently offers private training sessions and group classes for dogs and puppies in NYC as well as therapy dog classes with the Good Dog Foundation.  She lives with her dogs, Ginny, an Australian Shepherd/Boxer mix, and Pippa, a Pit Bull mix.
